Make sure your phone is turned on Peter Reid

"The season has barely begun and the managerial merry-go-round has started up already" will no doubt be written in the back pages tomorrow's papers. But I think it is rather later than some seasons. We are already well into September, and only now has a big name manager been given the boot, sorry what I meant to say was that they have "parted company by mutual consent". Peter Reid's phone may be ringing already, along with a few other usual suspects. Although I think Racist Ron, sorry, Big Ron's days are over.

Playing legend Bryan Robson has left West Brom, if you're curious about what that little rant was about. He was witout doubt a great player. Surely after this chairmen will not make the assumption that a great player equals a decent manager. Bryan Robson may have had a high profile managerial career, but it hasn't exactly been glittering.

'Boro - spent an absolute fortune on a team featuring some of the world's best of the time (Ravanelli, Emerson, Juninho) and they were relegated. He hung on there until 2001.

2003 saw his return with Bradford and he sent them down from (the then) Division One to Dvision Two.

Then in 2004 he replaced Gary Megson, the man who brought West Brom up to the Premiership. After achieving the "Great Escape" he went down with them to The Championship.

Bryan, maybe now it's time to write columns and have your agent phone Sky Sports and MOTD's producers and get your pundit career up and running, eh?
